Marco Rios - Historia

Marco Rios Artist, singer/songwriter from Peru in Latin-America, living in Sweden. Marco, with his unique interpretative style, has introduced Latin-American music in Sweden and Scandinavia, but over the years he has also presented Swedish music to Spanish talking people around the world. In Latin-America Marco performed on various stages (Festivals, TV, radio, tours etc.) together with international artists such as Neil Sedaka, Rita Pavone and Los Harmonics. In Peru he performed with e.g. Lucho Barrios, Luis Abanto Morales, Rómulo Varillas, Anamelba, Pepe Torres, Pedrito Otiniano, with others,

Marco’s first record was the LP ”Doce Psycoéxitos de Los Teddy's” (12 psycohits with Los Teddy’s), followed by ”La palomilla”, ”Negra”, ”Una playa en el infierno”, “Lávate la cara”, ”El negro Miguel”, ”Jamás impedirás” (all recorded in Perú).

The first international tour with Enrique Angulo (Willy) started in Perú, Bolivia, Argentina and Brazil. In Brazil he shared the same stage with Roberto Carlos, Erasmo Carlos, Los Indios Tabajaras, Chico Anicio, Elizette Cardozo, Maiza Mattarazo, and other

In Centralamerica Nicaragua, with Luis Enrique Mejia Godoy, Sven Wollter, Backa teatern, Imperiet, Sven Wennerstöm and other.

Marco recorded an album with translations into spanish of the songs from the famous swedish songwriter Björn Afzelius. CD Rio Grande, Afzelius en español. Marco and Björn make together, performances, TV, video in Sweden.

Marco has participated several times in the children’s TV programme Björnes magasin on the Swedish National Television. There he had his own series called “Hej amigo!” and played songs such as: "Hej amigo", "Micaela", "Hela veckan lång", "Mamma jorden", and "Dansa min cumbia". He has also taken part in radio programmes for children on the Swedish National Radio P3, in two series called "Sambalele" and "Hip hop loppan" with the songs "Vi leker här i skogen", "Grodan", "Hur låter det?", "Herr Kajmann", "Guantanamera", etc. He has also participated and redacted pedagogics radio programs for Spanish speaking people and students of Spanish, produced by the Educational Swedish Radio UR Utbildningsradion P2. Programs to ”Palabras al aire”. ”Las letras y los números”, ”Canciones de ranas, suegras y saludos”, with own songs as, ”La tabla del 2”, traslations av swedishs childrens songs into Spanish from Kerstin Andeby and Peter Wanngren (Grammyswinner in childrens songs with Majas alfabet) as ”ABCDario” and ”Chao, chao”, traditional latinamerican music as ”La rana”. Marco has performed with artists such as Björn Afzelius, Mikael Wiehe, The Cardigans, Infinite Mass, The Latin Kings, Kim Larsen, Hoola Bandoola Band, Joakim Thåström, Totta Näslund, Lisa Ekdahl, Sven-Ingvars, Da Buzz, Sven Bertil Taube and Ronnie Ericsson.

Marco collaborates and has collaborated with different artists and musicians such as: Martin Hederos (Soundtracks of Our Lives) recording CD “Hej amigo!”, Janne Zander (Da Buzz) and Patrik Carlsson (Sven-Ingvars) recording CD “Afzelius en español”, Iliana Pérez, Rafael Sida, Luis Romero, Jane Andersson and Magnus Ludwigsson recording CD “Värmlatino”, Susanne Lind, Sanna Källman (Markatta), Inga Rising, Roberto Noel, Diva Cruz, Kristian Brandt, Theresa Hedborg, filmproducenten Kaj Ivanovic, the group Mazdakombo, Arte Brasil, etc. Marco was invited as guestartist in other album productions as: Hamish CD “One picture says more than thousand words” with the song “Oye, mira!” Nocando “Mexican radio”, Academyoffunk “Funk you up!” and others recorded in Sweden. 2006 and 2007 tours around Spain, Turkey and Thailand Sweden Tour 2006 with the popular singer from Chile, Joe Vasconcellos and his band.
